Basic health programs for low income individuals in Obamacare

What’s in Obamacare, Part 11:

Tax Payer subsidized health insurance for low income individuals and legal aliens

Basic health plans for low income individuals and lawful aliens not eligible for Medicaid:

The Secretary of Health and Human Services will establish a guidelines for a “standard health plan” which can be offered by health insurance issuers.  In order for a health insurance plan to qualify as a standard health plan it must provide at least the minimum essential benefits defined in the bill and have an 85% medical loss ratio (meaning $0.85 out of every $1.00 collected on premium payments must be spent on medical expenses of the enrollees).

Any state may enter into a contract with the federal government to offer a standard health plan in that state.  Any state that offers a standard health plan will be awarded federal funds each year.  The funds are to be used for the purposes of lowering the premium payments and increasing the benefits covered by the  standard health plan.

Who is eligible to enroll in a federally subsidized standard health plan?

  • Individuals who’s annual income is between 133% and 200% of the poverty line.  Which is about $14,000.00 – $21,000.00 for an individual, or $18,000.00 – $29,000.00 for a family of two.
  • Any individual enrolling in the plan must be younger than 65, and must not be eligible for Medicaid.
  • An individual that is a legal alien whose household income less than 133% of the poverty line.

What have we learned?

Under Obamacare if you do less, you get more.  So what’s the incentive for the lazy people in this country to get up and actually do something with their lives?  There isn’t any,…but that’s the point.  Obama and his lib cronies have every intention of making everyone as dependent as possible on the care of the federal government for every necessity of life.  This bill is just the beginning of the liberals attempt to enforce a permanent lower class.

  1. This outrages me! I have family members scraping by at low-paying jobs and now Obama wants to give employers tax credits for hiring fewer employees and/or offering them less money. This means employees have to work harder for less pay.

I am certain in the current state of the economy that the unemployed will take just about any job, low wages or not, to be able to pay for the basics like food and utilities. Forget about emergencies or forclosures, people are struggling just to keep their heads above water. And for most, it isn’t working, they are drowning in the current state of things.

  2. Unfortunately Stacie, I think in the long run things will get only get worse. We may see the state of our economy pick up for a short while, but in the long term we will have to face the consequences of spending far more money than we could ever pay back.
