Liberal Compassion For America’s Enemies

Liberals Hate America, Love Everyone Else

I work with a man that does contract work with the United States Military.   One day out of curiosity I asked him this: “You work closely with the military,  What’s the scoop with Iran enriching Uranium?”  He Said ” What do you mean?  They just want what everyone else has.  Wouldn’t you want to be able to have the same weapons that everyone else has?  America is always trying to bully the world, and dictate what other countries do.”  I said “but Iran is threatening the US and it’s allies, they hate us.” He responded “well, they do that all of the time, they won’t actually do anything. I’m just so tired of America always trying to police everything”  I ended the conversation there.  If I had heard anymore of this nonsense my head would have surely exploded.

Later on the same day I asked another man how he feels about Iran, and I got a similar response.  This prompted me to wonder how American’s could possibly sympathize with our enemies, or why they could be upset with their own country for defending them.

I can understand that Iran would want the same things that other countries have; but try looking at it this way.  If a man came up to you and threatened to do harm to you and your family; Would you stand there and let that man construct weapons in order to inflict said harm, or would you stop him?  Any sane man would try to stop him.  So why should America let a country that has continually made threats against us and our allies build weapons to carry out those threats?   They shouldn’t, and I thank God everyday that I live in country that defends liberty (for now at least).

Why in the world are there so many of our fellow countrymen (mostly progressives) that hate their own country. This is the United States of America?  We are the best country in the world. This country has given us all freedom. It has given us all the chance to succeed, and to live in endless prosperity, if only you seize the opportunity to do so. The United States of America is our team. If you don’t want to cheer for your own team, then get out of the stadium.

  2. I had one of those conversations with a Libertarian on Sat night. He did have one comment: If we need to use the military, then it’s Total War! Git ‘er done!

Same beginning “I’m tired of being the World’s policeman. Just wait until China is. Then they’ll complain we shouldn’t have let them take over. We can say: Hey, you got what you wished for!

  3. Its interesting that American’s could have that point of view. If America isn’t defending itself, then who will?

  4. Why doesn’t the US go on the Euro?

  5. So you are telling us to cheer for our team (America) while you call the President a clown?

  6. @Randyzee My dislike for a man who happens to hold the office of our Presidency and who has a particular disdain for America himself, has nothing to do with my love of this country. Should American’s just keep their mouths’ shut and support the president even if they believe that the man that holds the office is attempting to destroy their country? Is it unpatriotic to speak out against those that pose a danger to freedom?

  7. Oh, a guy who serves the country in Congress and then goes thru the process to be president has disdain for the country? Wow, I wonder what he would do if he really hated America?

You are correct about speaking up. When people speak up about the US spending resources abroad to “police the world” and invade sovereign countries, instead of spending money on Americans, that is very Patriotic.

Those who caused the pointless invasion of Iraq certainly had a disdain for this country. But hey, the Chinese like us better now that they are getting a good deal on Iraqui oil! How do you say “Thanks Dick” in Chinese?

  9. Another question…
You state that Obama is threatening our freedoms.
Would that be like bypassing the FISA laws and wiretapping Americans and Serviceman abroad without court sanctioned orders?

  10. @Randyzee, there you go again, filling in the blanks…Never once did I ever say that I supported those things (I don’t), nor have I ever said that I am or ever was a Bush supporter. In fact it’s quite the opposite. As far as I am concerned Bush was a liberal with a few bouts of conservatism. Furthermore, in no way do I support America gallivanting around the world to ensure freedoms in other nations, that’s is actually more of a left wing point of view (yeah it’s true, look it up). What I do support, is that when there is a potential threat to our nations security, we stop it. Do you believe that Iran(which has, on numerous occasions, expressed it’s wish to inflict harm on the west, and its’ allies) should be allowed to have nuclear weapons because we have them? If so, your position is logically flawed. Iran and other countries have or attempt to obtain nuclear weapons to impose tyranny upon the world, America has nuclear weapons to thwart such tyrannies …. since you like to ask questions I have one of my own:

I see here that in one of your older comments you gave me a bit of grief about calling our president a clown. Then in another comment you voice your opposition to some of Bush’s policies, and you did it again in your most recent comment. Which begs the question, how many bad things(I suspect much worse things than “clown”) have you said about our former president?…that would make you quite the hypocrite.

  11. After what happened to Iraq & Afghanistan, can you blame the Iranians for waning a nuclear weapon?

Bush gave trillions of tax dollars away so the Chinese could get cheap oil and lied to the American people about wiretapping.
So far, Obama has spent trillions trying to restart the American economy and to give health care to poor Americans.

Most would have some serious words to describe our last Conservative administration. They have performed serious economic harm upon our country.

Do you have a problem with our President spending American tax dollars on Americans instead of on foreign countries and war profiteers?

  12. @Randyzee, Again, I am not a Bush supporter(you might call him a conservative, but his actions prove otherwise), and I certainly don’t agree with Bushes’ abuse of tax dollars(to an extent, he did keep the country safe, whereas Obama is just handing our security over). Similarly, I certainly don’t agree with Obama’s abuse of tax dollars. The point is that America is not about taxing the producers to hand over to the moochers. The system of heavily taxing citizens and pumping the money back into the system in order to boost the economy has been tried with less than desirable results on numerous occasions, yet we somehow fail to learn from the mistakes of others.

The money that our government continually wastes trying to “save” the economy, could have put to better use if they hadn’t taken it out of the hands of hardworking American’s in the first place.

Okay, I’ll stop rambling. I guess the answer to your question is that I do have a problem with Obama dipping into the treasury at his every whim for whatever purpose he deems necessary, just as I had a problem with bush doing the same thing for different purposes.

  13. Here’s the first of my two questions…
How did Bush make us “safer?”

Hitting an overseas hornet’s nest with a baseball bat makes us safer?

Just think what a much better country this would be if we had spent the 3 trillion on making the US better instead of destroying swaths of the Middle East. Instead of Democracy by bayonet (or Drone), we could lead by example. People would have all wanted to make their country emulate ours. Bush dragged us in the gutter with the Dictators. Now people really see the US as Imperialistic torturers and not a country that is above reproach on morals.

That’s the difference between right & left. We want to lead by example and you want to blacken the eye’s of those who don’t like us because they don’t like us. You claim performing violence on others makes us “safer.”

If someone blackened your eye, would you respect them more? If they killed your friends and family members in remote controlled drone attacks, would you want your country to be a democratic country like theis?

  14. Odd how many Republicans say they were not Bush supporters. They had nothing to say when he was wiretapping them and spending like a drunken sailor.

I think he was a success as a conservative. After all, the top 5% of wealthy folks had their incomes go up 17% under Bush Jr. The deficit exploded (“deficits don’t matter”) so there would be no money for social programs but it looks like Obama is damning the torpedos. It looks to me he was following the Conservative agenda.

  15. That’s OK Conservative American. I’ve never been able to get a logical answer on how invading a Muslim country made Americans “safer.”
Another Faux News talking point with no basis in fact.
How about those Hannity Tea Party images they cobbled together? Don’t let the facts get in the way of the opinions.

  16. How does going against everything the majority party works for help the country? If the Dems did that against Bush, we would have never heard the end of it.
Now, Republicans are a bunch whining sore losers who will sacrifice the good of the country just to get their own way. Buncha immature children.

  18. It’s called bi-partison governing. Working together for the good of the country. Work with the majority parties vision and be flexible so problems can be solved. Give them the chance they earned at the ballot box by mandate of the American voter.

Especially now when the current Administration inherited two wars and the worst economic breakdown since the Great Depression. Add to that the greatest environmental disaster in our history.

Instead, the Republican party acts like a bunch of whiners finding fault in everything the government does to try to fix these messes. One Republican idiot claimed this week that we “shook down” BP!! He should go to Valdez Alaska and talk to the folks whose livelyhoods were ruined and waited 20 years for a pittance in restitution. After that he thinks we should trust BP!! These guys are so nuts they must think the “little people” in the gulf should be happy with minimum wage jobs cleaning up their mess so the cost of BP shares can go up again.

Of course, that is very difficult when one party is so far to the right that their policies work towards the destruction of the middle class…the very people who buy the goods their corporate rulers make.

Conservatism has proven to be an economic theory that widens the gap between the rich and poor at the expense of a vital middle class. All Reagan did was cut the taxes on the wealthy so much that when he faced a huge deficit, he raided social security to pay for it…the sweat of the middle class.

  19. Now the conservative Republicans are blocking an extension of unemployment to those who are still looking for work. I know people who have been looking for work for over a year.

They are getting ready to once again float a bill to give tax breaks to billionaires though.

When in power, spend like drunken sailors. When they are the minority, they carp about the deficit. (“Deficits don’t matter”- Dick Cheney)
